Magnesium-carbon bricks are a high melting point alkaline oxide magnesium-oxide (melting point 2800℃) and difficult to be slag erosion of high melting point carbon material as raw materials, add a variety of non-oxide additives, with carbonaceous binder combined and become of non-burning carbon composite refractory. Its main characteristics are good high temperature resistance, slag resistance, thermal shock resistance, low creep at high temperature. As a kind of composite refractory material, magnesium carbon bricks can effectively utilize the strong slag erosion resistance of magnesia and the high thermal conductivity and low expansion of carbon, which compensates for the worse disadvantage of magnesia spalling resistance. Magnesia-carbon bricks are mainly used for the lining of steel converter, electric arc furnace, refining furnace and ladle.
